I've played guitar for 30 years. Dabble on piano, bass and other instruments. I also sing. I'm a big fan of a wide variety of music from James Taylor to Buddy Holly to RUSH to Stevie Ray Vaughn to Ray Charles to Billy Joel to Alan Jackson to Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. My playing has been more focused on the James Taylor/Harry Chapin/Jim Croce as well as country music on acoustic, and Classic Rock on electric and acoustic.
My first band, Eclipse, came together specifically to play a huge arts festival put on by our high school once every four years called Focus On The Arts. In addition to known professionals in dance, theater, painting, photography, music and other arts, student bands play during lunch. These four days students must attend seminars and performances instead of normal classes. Eclipse played a wide variety of popular rock music from the time. (1985) The Cars, Huey Lewis & The News, Rush and more. It was a heck of a fun gig in the middle of a really cool couple of school days.
In the late 1980's, early 1990's I was in a rock band called Access Denied.
We split our gigs between originals and covers, with our one claim to fame being my brother (not a member of the band) and I wrote a Wacky Weenie for Buzz Kilman, newsman and sidekick to the massively popular WLUP-Chicago DJ, Jonathan Brandmeier. The band recorded it with my bro singing lead. An entire morning of nagging resulted in several months of airplay.
