Band History:
Supersonics began with an idea proposed by drummer Brett Thöle at the Midtfyens Festival in 2000.
Thomas Groenholdt (guitar) and Martin Herping (bass) joined ranks. With the desire to create a unique sound in their own songs Supersonics was founded.
Thomas had already written songs for some time and Martin began writing right away. This mostly resulted in an interesting yet questionable product.
In the spring 2002 Supersonics recorded their first demo in Thomas Groenholdt’s living room. During the recordings Brett Thöle announced that he was leaving the band due to private circumstances.
Thomas and Martin continued the recordings and shortly after the lead singer Jannik Christiansen joined Supersonics. Jannik had been singing in several Odense bands, and with him came the voice that the band had been looking for.
The demo cd received positive responses.
Having searched for a new drummer for quite a while, the band was joined by Soeren Wrang. In him Supersonics had found an experienced drummer. Leaving the band “Raisin Jane”, Soeren instantly added more structure to the music.
This gave the writers opportunity to work harder on the material.
After recording the 2. demo in early 2003, the lack of a second guitar was quite clear. Several guitar players took part in several auditions. The band chose Simon Christensen as the new guitarist.
The band now felt complete and began recording their 3. demo. Simultaneously Supersonics played their first concerts in Odense followed by two gigs in London.
Returning from London, Supersonics began rehearsals for the “Rock In Kongens Have” festival. During these sessions the band discovered that lead singer Jannik was to participate in the Danish “Popstars”. This discovery made the band kick Jannik out of the band.
This would prove to be a clever move by the band. Troels Kjeldsen became the new front man in Supersonics. Singing in Bon Jovi Jam for more than half a decade, Troels had the experience to help Supersonics reach another level.
In January 2004 the band let guitar player Simon Christensen go. The lack of ambitions caused the band to take this step.
Supersonics now found themselves on the look-out once again. Malberg Hentze took over were Simon had left.
Supersonics is currently working hard on new material and chasing their dreams.
