Why this name?
blame jesus because it is confrontational, funny, and absurd. we are not trying to offend anyone, we just do... naturally. we can say, for us at least, xtianity has done more harm than good to this planet... and as passe and self-agrandizing as it seems, christ-bashing must continue if we are to find a balance between religious extremes... we are not particularly pro-anything. our violinist was a preacher's daughter and has played the devil's instrument gracefully and passionately for 22 years. we are comfortable with extremes, but again, it is not our intent to offend but to make aware, and utilize music as a form of short circuiting control.
Do you play live?
our cradle, flagstaff, AZ @ various venues... sedona, AZ about once a month @ random acts of coffee. we love playing live! special moments? most recently, our guitarist went outside and passed out in a tree for our entire third set.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
we depend on it, for a larger fan base, making connections etc... music shouldn't be about making money, something our bassist needs reminded of once in a while... but i admire his chutzpah.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
hell yeah! good luck redefining our sound for mass appeal! actually aside from the occasional frustrations of D.I.Y. we enjoy taking responsibility for our actions and our total creative output. we don't depend on anyone for recording, promoting, booking etc. of course we still depend on our friends to come see us play out :)
Band History:
we all met in flagstaff and started playing on july 29th, 2004... under a blue moon. for 2 weeks double rainbows could be seen over our rehearsal space. we started playing out at that point as "2 Hours of Bliss" but have just recently changed back to Blame Jesus... we have self released 4 cds of our music, 3 live recordings and one studio improv and should soon be releasing our first 2 disc set as Blame Jesus, featuring live and studio recordings... please check our website for more info
