play lo-fi play hi-fi  Let the Music Play
Our band is two students from Elon University, NC who use acoustic guitar pop lyrics and computer software to create our own genre called Chem Pop.
Why this name?
A friend of ours mentioned a bug that lived in Hawaii which exclusivley lived on and thrived on a poisonous plant. But Head Chemists means to us, the chemistry of music that we interpret and experiement with in our minds.
Do you play live?
We recorded an album so we didn't have to play out. We got it right in the studio so now it is forever available for people to listen too in any location of their choice. We refuse to play live until all US soldiers are removed from Iraq.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It made it a lot harder for us to sell our CD's. But it made it a lot easier to spread the music to various interested, distanced people.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
We would be interested in signing a deal with a record company so that we could focus on writing music instead of distributing, promoting, publishing, marketing, our music. We'd love the support.
Band History:
We met in London England in 2004 where BenJamin James Prichard and John David Parsons met and played their first show at the Betsey Trotwood. It took us 16 months to write, record, mix and master Bittersweet Melody. We were in a recording studio for 72 hours recording guitar and vocals.
Your influences?
Every bit of music I've ever listened too, I've been influenced by.
Favorite spot?
I really love Philadelphia.
Equipment used:
We use Mac's, Pro Tools, Boss Loop Pedals, Boss Processors, Reason 3.0, Takamine and Seagull acoustic guitars.
Anything else...?
We write our music with 5,000 miles in between us. BenJamin lives in Kona, Hawaii and John David Parsons lives in Elon, NC. We use Mac's to network and share music ideas. We come to together to record the music in Chapel Hill, NC.
