My name is Labyrinth Phoenix a brief history into why i really got into doing hip hop seriously. I ve been rapping since i was 11 years old my Grand mother the love of my life passed away 10 days after my 12th birthday and the one time she heard me freestyling up stairs when i came down she said to me what were you doing up there i said grand ma i was freestyling, her reply was that well you have a gift make sure that you use it right, and i dont wanna hear you cursing like that again, needless to say after she died in 94 i had well i felt like i had no one to talk to so therefore what i did was i wrote in a journal, and believe it not i was makin words rhyme without tryin to, so i said hey why not. the flow wasnt that good back then but to me it never is so i stay motivated to keep improving and changing as i get older basically grow as a artist, many wont understand my music, a few will say its alright alot will say my beats are wack only a couple will love it. why i started to get serious with this was around 97 i saw the game change u no longer needed skills you could just be retarted and be irrelavant and make millions and this started an epidemic so i said some one has to be the remedy for the babies sake. one thing that fed me up wit rap and mainly ignorant blacks was the fact that they could teach their kids rhymes from 50 cent but they kids cant spell or say their abc's, that was it i knew i had to become the truth factor and tell them about themselves and how they are destroying my good friend common sense (no not the rapper) the thing my grand ma raised me wit. i am here to bring it back. if you like wut u hear please hit me up on aol the messenger LoneSoldier51282
Why this name?
i came up with this name because i was living wut they call the street life i had the girls the so called friends and i lost everything, people turned they back on me and i realized i was a LoneSoldier therefore i knew i had to rise up so originally it was just Phoenix, but then i thought i need to complete the name, ive always been a complex thinker so i said hey Labyrinth and the rest is histoy.
Do you play live?
i have not played live but i did do a few battle contests, where they messed wit my mic so i wouldnt win but its ight they know who they are and wut they did and it made me stronger. to me even tho i lost it was a special moment because i realized that they feared wut i was about, stupidity and ignorance breeds un-intelligence.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
i think it gives artists like me and every one a chance to get their music out there, sometimes when people make millions its not enough they need billions and greed is the destruction of mankind, we need to unite as all people and artists and form our own forum where we control who gets to say wut sells and wut doesnt, we need a change in music across the board and as long as these fat kats keep tryin to dictate that things will never change, as one finger u can do a lil damage but as a fist u can break jaws so Unity my friends.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
i am very iffy about that, long as they dont wanna change me, because i am who i am. i am no thug no criminal no killer, i am a poet with something to say. Love not money motivates me, tho i got love for the Green.
