The Truth is a 5 pack melodic hard rock, or heavy pop (whichever you prefer) band from Mario's town, Pittsburgh PA. They have, and are not afraid to use, an irrevrant sense of humor, and they describe their attitude as "positive and celebratory" as opposed to the "angst and drudgery" found in some modern music. The band, as far as we can tell, consists of... DAVID LINDAUER: Lead and Backing vocals GEO BENNETT: All Guitars and Backing vocals BOBBY KUNKEL: Drums, Percussion and Backing vocals RICK GALLAGHER: Piano, Organ and Backing vocals BRIAN OSBURN: All Bass and Backing vocals

Why this name?
Our band name had been discussed many times before for various projects we were involved with, but it just seemed perfect for this situation. It's very direct and strong, with little room for mis-interpretation. It also represents, or alludes to, the way we feel about the music we're creating in this band. We are being true to ourselves as people, musicians, and performers.
Do you play live?
Yes, we certainly do play live, and we most definitely enjoy it! Writing and creating music is a huge thrill, but being able to perform it live, and watch people react to it, and enjoy it, is the reward and validation for all the effort we put in to our music and shows. Of course we write songs that appeal to US, but the whole point is to share those feelings with others who love rock n roll as much as we do. We play all around our hometown, and as soon as our CD is released in late February, we plan to expand our scope to as many places as possible. Anytime we play live, and can look into the crowd and see people dancing, and singing along, and having a great time, that is a special moment.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
It would most likely depend on the particulars of the situation. A few bands from our hometown have been signed to majors, or subsidiaries, and have gotten absolutely no support, but one band has put out 3 records, sold about 2.5 million total units, and enjoyed success as a concert attraction for almost 6 years. We've seen it go both ways, and realize that getting signed is still only a first step. Even with all of the advances in internet technology and usership in the past decade, there's still nothing to beat a deal with a major label as far as visibility and distribution and increasing the amount of people you can reach.
Your influences?
Our individual musical influences read like a who's who of music from the past 50 years. Rick has deep roots in modern and classic jazz and blues, while Dave would probably list 80's hard rock as his biggest, but definitely not only, inspiration. Brian loves bass-heavy classic rock like Rush and The Who as much as modern, radio friendly bands like Dexter Freebish and Sister Hazel, while Geo draws his attitude from as far back as Elvis and The Stones, through KISS and The Cult, topping it off with some modern things like SR-71, The Marvelous 3, and SoniaDada. Bobby's pallete is most likely wider and more diverse than any of ours, and we prefer to let him speak for himself somewhere down the line. As a whole though, if something is strong melodically and harmonically, and rocks hard enough without being mindless, we probably like it!
