After nearly losing my fret hand in a car crash and 18 months of recovery, I left Huntington, Indiana for Florida to write and record my original music. I hope you enjoy some of what you find here, small pieces of myself.
Why this name?
Rob Koontz is my name.
Do you play live?
I have not played out live for over 6 years and it is hard to describe how much I miss it.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
If it was not for the music listener who search out and find new artists and bands, musicians like me would never have a shot at making a living with music. Not that most of us don't have day jobs, but the fans of new music make it all worth while.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
It would have to be a fair deal approved by an experienced music attorney.
Your influences?
My early influences varied from Bread, Journey, Kansas to later music like Dokken, Savatage (with Criss Oliva ) Yngwie Malmsteen, Gary Moore and such. Since the late 80's I have not listened to outside sources of music, but my music has evolved as my playing has.
Favorite spot?
Huntington, Indiana
Equipment used:
Marshall JCM 800 100 watt stack, Jackson Randy Rhodes Pro USA, Zoom 3030 Player, Yamaha Keyboards and mylon string guitar, and Alessi drum machine.
