Paul Currie (aka. Parabolic) was born and raised in Barrie, ON on Dec. 28 1983. Throughtout his childhood Parabolic was always influenced by music. He started listening to the old funk and classic rock that was always playing on his household radio. Parabolic eventually realized that it was not the songs lyrics or vocals that captured him, but it was the precussion that would catch his ear and keep him interested. As Parabolic grew so did his taste for music. He began listening to hard dance and techno. It wasnt until Parabolic was 15 when he met Sean C. At this time it was artists like The Prodigy and Chemical Brothers that influenced them. Once they came across Drum and Bass, it was the sounds of the amen break that would change everything they thought about modern music. Like most heads, it became an obsession...
...a calling.
Quickly the two jumped on what they discovered, buying an old set of turntables and taking off to Toronto to shop for records on a regular basis. It was clear the style these two were slowly moving into, dark dirty drum and bass. AMENS were slowly filling Parabolic's head. Soon after Parabolic began playing at local nights around the city he decided to take it to the next level and begin producing. Now over the last five years Parabolic has built a tidy studio with all the gear needed to unleash the beats that plague him. Highly influenced by the likes of Tech Itch, Dylan, Ray Keith, B Key, and Paradox, Parabolic's songs are not for the faint of heart.
Being the newest member of the Havoc Recordings family, when asked what his goals were Parabolic replied: "My goal is to bring mayhem to the dancefloor. I want people to stand there and try to comprehend what the f*** is going on inside my head. Keep it heavy and dark and straight from the heart."
