For years i listened to chart music and never really found anything that really hooked on me and in the summer of 87 my freind bought a new LP up by an old Band Called Pink Floyd "Momentary lapse of reason". I remember hearing but not listening too greatly to Dark side of the moon on my dads hifi. And also Animals. But It was after listening to one of the worst albums they ever made, which i love incidentally, that It inspired me and so my love affair with music began. Coupled with Jean Michel Jarre, Vangelis and Tangerine Dream i loved the electronic sound of the early 80,s. So this was all going to fit sooner or later in the overall sound. Now its all changing, (as it should) and I am willing to go with whatever mood or genre that arises. I dont like to stay in one place for too long and this reflects itself in a lot of the music I make. Hope you enjoy it
Why this name?
Simple, found a picture of three dolphins, then used it as a cover for a tape i made, and called it "Up dolphins Arses", then gave the tape to my cousin. But, its good, because the UDA can mean anything!
Do you play live?
No i dont
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Artists like me can showcase the horseshit we make "thats is Andrew , sell sell sell".
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Would you put your balls through A mangle thats been set alight, whilst being flogged with whips and chains. Have your soul sucked up into the chasms of the arse of satan only to be shat out later on, with one major selling album, and with the Artistic longevity of a Gnat, only to be long forgotten in the aisles of music historys throwaway archives, telling strangers in the pub, half cut, when your older that you were somebody, as your alcoholic breath and wistful sorrow and broken dreams, amaciates any sympathy, for the failiure that you have become, but you delude yourself, that you were once somebody, and that your hopeing , one day, it will come back.............................................Hell yeh, of course i would, beats wipeing incontinent old peoples arses!!
Band History:
I first started learning keyboards for real in 1988, for years i used to twiddle on my mums Elka organ, and had an ability to play by ear. But armed with a few chords I wanted to emulate my heroes.
Your influences?
The big one is Pink floyd, Jean Michel Jarre, Tangerine Dream, Vangelis, I love dub reggae, Mad Professor, Dub Syndicate, Alpha and Omega, Eat Static The Orb, Porcupine Tree, The Ozrics, Mike Oldfield, Led Zeppers, Peter Gabriels work inspires me, I love Beck, a trully unique talent. I love world influences in music, Hungarian, Nordic folk, Progressive Jazz, Dark Gothic Metal. I love most music with the exception of Country and Western, and some pompous samey Classical
Favorite spot?
There is a walk near Ullswater, In Englands Lake District. Its from the Aira Force waterfall, to the edge of the Lake. I was listening to Eat static in my headphones with My Walkman, and on the other side of the tape was Meddle, two euphoric feelings in one, I was coming from this inner forest of lush greenery and on the opening up after the dark ambient peice in Echoes it awakens slowly and As it was opening up i came to this clearing in the trees and saw the tides edge, the mountains panorama before me, and this soundtrack in my head that was just complete wonderment and awesome. It complemented the aural picture as well as the optical one. Was a moment of euphoria for me. I love that place. I have been to many places in the world, but for me thats the best place so far, when it doesnt rain!. But it was a beautiful day that day
