Great Scott fuses several music styles to form his own blend of chaos. The Great 1 is influenced by hip hop,Miami Bass, rock, electro, freestyle and R&B.His production includes original music as well as the occassional sampling (to hell with snatching 2 bars, take it all).Currently two albums are completed with the third in the works. Most of his time is spent producing for others however in his spare time he works on his own projects. No matter what,he continues to push the limits on bad taste.
Why this name?
The name was given to him by Menace of "Tha Addicts" back in the early 90's.
Do you play live?
Haven't recently, but he is working with a videographer to put together a 3-D video collage of his music videos with added special effects.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Because of the internets affordability, vast opportunities, and ability to reach across the globe its only a stepping stone to something much bigger.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
If you can successfully produce, promote and distribute your product independently DO IT.Independently you call your shots not a suit in an office out of touch with reality.Plus the uncertain future of many labels and their employees increases the risk of getting shelved. Besides who in their right mind would sign me and my crap.
Your influences?
Kid Rock, 2 Live Crew, Run DMC, Motley Crue, Led Zeppelin, Limp Bizkit, AC/DC, Beastie Boys, DJ Magic Mike and a ton of other Miami Bass artists.
Favorite spot?
Las Vegas, L.A., South Florida, Pittsburgh
Equipment used:
Cubase, Acid, Roland MV-8000, SP 1200, Technics turntables(naturally), Roland Juno 106(for those old analog sounds)
