I am an artist with a wide range of musical tastes, influences, and styles. I've been singing since before I can remember and I always knew that music was what I wanted to do. I am currently pursuing a career in music whether it is writing, composing, producing, performing, or teaching. I know that I was born with the gift of music and I want to share this gift. I am a member of Cynthia Turner and Heartspeak - www.marinaparkmusic.com - as well as a solo musician.
Why this name?
I was given this name by my mother.
Do you play live?
I do play live quite often and it is the best feeling to be able to connect with your audience. A recent special moment involves me singing at a talent show and later being joined by a very famous r n b singer. It was my first duet with a celebrity and I will never forget it. Much props to my live band - Background singers: Amanda, Whitney, Crystal, Maritha, Lawrence, Chris, and Solomon; Band - Frank, George, Caesar, Darren, Quandra, Aaron, Jon, and Ashley; Sound technician and videographers - Lawrence, Janiele, and Larry...Love yall forever!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think that the internet (or mp3) has affectec the music industry in various ways. It make music more accessible to the public which is always a good thing, however there is always the risk of cheating the artist, production company, distribution label, producers, etc. out of the money that they rightfully deserve for making the music.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes.
Your influences?
Though I do enjoy singing and writing mainly r&b songs, I can honestly say that my biggest influence is God. He gives me the inspiration to write or produce all my songs. I have great respect and admiration for the work of Donnie Hathaway, Sam Cooke, Nat King Cole, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, and Luther Vandross. I'm a huge fan of Kim Burrell, the Clark sisters, and J. Moss. I also enjoy listening to Brandy, Destiny's Child, India Arie, Bryan McKnight, and Maxwell. Some of my favorite producers include Timbaland, Warren Campbell, Darkchild, the Neptunes, and Pajam. There are many more influences, but these are the most salient in my music.
Favorite spot?
My favorite city is Chicago. (I love Harolds on 87th).
Anything else...?
I produce a great deal of my material most recently, but I have to give a shot out to my guys Bsimms, Jusbeme, Joshcgon, Gee, and Poobmster. I also have to recognize my musical critics Lawrence, Maritha, Solomon, Janiele, Larry, Nameka, Amanda, and Whitney - they let me know the real deal. Big ups to Element, Voyce, Young Buck, Big T, and Penn for holdin' down the flows on some of the collabs. I have to say thanks and give praise to God for the success that He has allowed me to enjoy and for the great things to come in my musical career. Big ups to the Yahoo singing community! Big ups to my frat 11111906! Lastly, I have to thank my family & friends, and anyone who supports my musical efforts.
