"Semaj" is a one man band, feeling funk, hip-hop and Smooth Jazz. James is who I was born, and Semaj is who I have become, in the sense that James was trained to be other than a musician that he was born to be. That musician was Semaj. He was lost for most of my life...but he is back, and he's happy and making a lot of music. My first album is entitled "The Road To Semaj." The selections on my music page are taken from that album. Why this name?
Semaj, is a backward spelling of James. In the East Indian language, 'Seamaj' means: A holy place.
Do you play live?
yes. I play mostly for private parties. My most recent gig was at an anual banquet held at the Children's Museum in downtown Muncie, Indiana. Yes I love it. My special moments come whenever I play...Butterflies and tingling sensations from head to toe. That's special.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think they allow small producers like me a means to market out music to the broadest customer base. It also allows a great deal of good music to be available, whereas, before the internet that music would not be available to the public.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
yes.

My favorite city is SanFransisco...I LOST MY HEART IN SAN FRANCISCO.

Music is a "Relationship" between tones. And the structure and dynamics of those relationships are simular to the structure and dynamics of the relationships between the planets and star, the cells of every body, and the human mind, personality and behavior.
