Why this name?
I thought it up in school back in 1988, used it for a short period in my garage bands, then changed to several different names under the pressure of members that were in the band at the time. Then when we were asked to change our name by the band Exhumation {from Greece}. I asked the current members about the name Benevolence & they liked it & we've used it ever since...that was early 1997 & it is now mid 2005. -Chris
Do you play live?
Yes, we have played tons of shows...I wouldn't single out a special moment cause they all have their own unique moments that set them apart. That's the beauty of live performance, that's what sets it apart from recorded material.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Well, mp3's can have both a positive & negative influence. The positive thing is it is a way quicker & more effective way to do "tape trading" like alot of bands used to do to get the word out about their band. The negative is that it can rob you of sales if your stuff is placed up on the net by individuals & traded as a whole cd. The great thing about the internet is if your selling things & promoting your band via the net then you are involved in both interstate & international commerce, whether you leave your seat infront of your computer or you are traveling the US & the Globe.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yeah, if the contract wasn't robbing us blind.
