Underighter's Lab is a Holy Hip Hop vision to unite likemided artists to form an alliance, with a mission to reach the hip hop culture of hope and salvation not found in the knowledge of "self", but to lead hurting souls to Jesus Christ through the artform of hip hop music.
Why this name?
the name was chosen and is synonymous with a familiar logo known worldwide...although the name is the same, the spelling has been changed to address that this crew is about representing truth, while still incorporating the culture of hip hop through the terminology found in our crew name.
Do you play live?
Underighter's Lab has performed live in small venues such as churches, and open mic events throughout Southern California...as the vision takes fruition, my hope is to focus performances on schools throughout California and statewide [whatever the Lord's Will is].
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
the internet is a blessing for artists as ourselves because it has allowed us to network with other people who share similar interests without the use of a "middleman."
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Underighter's Lab has no intention of selling our souls to the enemy in order to blow up or become major label puppets...however, we would be willing to negotiate a deal with the right distribution company, so a broader demographic of hip hop heads can support us.
Band History:
Xerogravity aka 11th Wonder and DJ Elder are former crew members of Living Proof...without getting too lengthy on the band history, i'll just say that Living Proof has been in existence since 2000. Xerogravity was fortunate and blessed to become a member of this crew in 2002, and in 2004, Living Proof released their debut EP titled "First Things First." This album contains appearances from Godzilla Crew [SOAP One and Call Me John], Oryon, and H2Flow of Spiritual Foolios. Production for this CD was handled by DJ Elder and SOAP One, while Xerogravity played a part on the engineering end of it.
Sadly, the name of Living Proof came to a halt in 2005, as Etch-A-Sketch and Xerogravity decided and agreed it was better to be obedient than to sacrifice and the name was put to rest.
Etch-A-Sketch is now seeking to become a worship and praise singer, while Xerogravity chose to stick to the hip hop route and regrouping under the current name you now see...different musical paths and telents all for the same purpose: Kingdom Building.
Your influences?
Underighter's Lab has such a variety of musical influence, since this is a HHH crew, and most of the material that will be birthed from this group will be sample-driven. Our influences range from some of the artists we sample [strictly confidential for protection purposes] to artists such as Cal Logic, L.A. Symphony, Cross Movement, Mars ILL, Newsboys, ATS, Keith Green, Carman...the list goes on and on.
