Kaliko is a Philadelphia-born emcee coming out of Athens, GA. Raised in both locales, Kaliko's lyrics are a creative mix of wit and tongue-in-cheek bluntness. As well as rhyme, Kaliko is a also a producer and engineer.

Why this name?

The name Kaliko suits the way I flow. It is straight-forward and fast.

Do you play live?

I play in Athens, GA. I love being on stage, nothing else is like it. The energy from the crowd feeds my energy throughout the show. One time I was on stage and my probation officer was in the crowd. She asked me to freestyle and I did in the middle of the set; about her, probation, and drug tests.

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?

The internet provides a new distribution method that is available to everyone with a ISP and a computer. Once the financial end of internet distribution is nailed down, the traditional recording industry can forget about it.

Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

It depends on the deal itself. I'm open to any good opportunity.

Your influences?

Kool G Rap, Nas, Big Daddy Kane--I grew up on classic hip hop. But I've got albums from every possible genre.
