Genre: Classic rock & pop, guitar instrumentals, soundtrack exotica
Hometown: Milan, Italy by way of Boston
I'm a rock'n'roll singer-songwriter who also likes to dabble in soundtrack music, guitar instrumentals and the occassional bit of wierdness. I've been playing in bands pretty much non-stop since the early 1980s, though things have slowed down of late as I've got more into home studio recording and production. Currently I'm trying to find some chaps to get back out in the pubs with - just for fun and come what may. I've written a bit of music for Italian television ("Pulp Fiction" type guitar instrumentals) and in 2004 I had the good fortune to do a record with producer Scott Mathews called "Tough Love". Some of my main influences are the Stones, Elvis Costello, as well as plenty of blues and '60s garage rock. If it rocks, it rocks.
Discography:
Tough Love (2004, Donatello Soul Records)
Donatello Soul (2008, internet release)
Voxpopped (2009, internet release)

Why this name?
Having only to remember one's real name is convenient as middle-age sets in.
Do you play live?
Not currently playing live but would enjoy getting back into it if the right people came along. Live is dead in Milan right now but hopefully not for long.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Is there still a music industry?
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Nah, I have too much fun recording what I want and changing my image every five days or so.
Band History:
Yes, I'd say my days of playing in bands are history but who really knows? Okay, but seriously....I've played in a lot of groups but none that really went anywhere.
Your influences?
(no particular order) Brian Wilson, John Coltrane, Keith Richards, Bill Frisell, Peter Buck, Mata Hari, Robbie McIntosh, Miles Davis, Scott Mathews, Graham Parker, John Coltrane, Peter Case, Elvis Costello, The Beatles & George Martin, Steve Earle, Curtis Mayfield, the Velvet Underground, Ennio Morricone, Wayne Shorter, the Clash, Dylan....too many to name...anything with soul and a good melody thrown on top.
Favorite spot?
On a clear winter's day, New York's the place. If I'm in a good mood, Milan reminds me enough of New York that I can answer "where I am". For a hot summer's day, probably Rimini. Actually, I was amazed how nice a summer's evening can be in Massachusetts last year.
Equipment used:
I have a number of guitars (my Guild D-35 accoustic just survived another trip across - Swiss Air lets you bring your axe on as carry-on luggage) I use and I have a great sounding Traynor amp collecting dust, the little blue one...great sound for a 1X12. Most of my stuff is right into the board these days.
Anything else...?
My music makes even eggs exploding in a microwave sound tame - check it out.
