As hip-hop grows, it seems that the drive to be great has been lost. Hip-hop's top artist used to consist of artist that exude remarkable flows to paint vivd pictures that raised the bar of being a rapper. There aren't anymore great rappers; only gangsta rappers. Then there was Wise, who comes to bring back the greatness in hip-hop.
Wise, Douglas Rogers, was born in Newark, N.J to Lisa Renee Humphrey. When Douglas was young, Lisa joined the military to better her situation of being a single mother raising a son. Due to a few complications, Douglas moved in with his aunt, uncle and cousin in East Orange, N.J. for 5 years while his mother served her country. At a young age, Douglas showed a music talent that was very obvious.
When Douglas was reunited with his mother they moved to Augusta, GA where he began to pay more attention to hip-hop artists like Jay-Z, Nas, The Notorious B.I.G., Tupac, Big Pun and many others. He began developing his skills with a group of close friends. After high school, he took on the name Wise and began college. It was here that his drive was intensified.
Wise now produces and records all of his own music. His drive and passion is the exact presense that hip-hop needs. With his multiple skills, diversity and presence Wise intends to tackle the music industry and offer to hip-hop more than any ever has. Are you ready?
Why this name?
Although Wise is young, he is ahead of his time. He has knowledge that the average person his age does not have.
Do you play live?
I've performed live at Georgia Southern University with friends. (the band Substratum) I love performing. The most special moment was when they were performing and pulled me from the crowd and had me perform with them on the spot. I had to freestyle everything I was saying, but everyone still said it was HOT.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Yes. Although it is all about the music, this is all that some artist have. Meaning by downloading MP3s, you take away from their way of living.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
If the money was right and the deal was in my best interest.

Anything else...?
Music is more than a hobby for me, it's a passion. Unless music is in my job description, I'll be the most unhappy person on the planet.
