I'm a former member of several bands across the country, have been writing songs for 30 years and making home-grown productions for about 25 years. I have been dabbling with a more diverse songwriting style and I am always looking to add something interesting to this Soundclick page. I am a lover of music (but not all music) and will not be boxed into one certain style. I hope you like this as much as I do because my soul is bleeding all over this page....rock on......
Why this name?
My parents gave it to me.
Do you play live?
I loved being in a band and playing live, and who knows, maybe I wil get to do it again soon. Occasionally I can play a serenade or lullaby or on the patio when the weather permits and I love having an intimate audience. They are all special moments and I consider them gifts from God.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I don't know the first thing about the music industry. Do they manufacture music?
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
My dream is to land a publishing contract. I want to play and write constantly. I would love to get a bunch of people grooving to my songs in their cars, at work or whatever. In the supermarket, you know, while I walk by smiling.
Band History:
The only band I have is this frayed gray one around the top of my boxer-briefs, and they are just about history.
Your influences?
Foghat, Aerosmith, Elvis, Earth Wind and Fire, The Temptations, Ray Charles, Johnny Cash, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Elton John, The Eagles, Grand Funk Railroad, 3 Dog Night, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Thin Lizzy, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Rush, Yes, Tom Petty, Mr. Miles, too many to name here, it's everything you hear, some stuff influences you in a way that you never want to hear that sound again.
Favorite spot?
in bed
Equipment used:
I use an old Cakewalk Music Creator 4 (just upgraded from version 1.0.0) to produce my tracks on an Emachine with a Soundblaster Audigy card in it. I have one Shure PG58 microphone, an M-Audio Fast Track audio interface, a set of RadioShack headphones that I had for 20 years, an Epiphone Special II electric that I am in love with, a Yamaha F-335 black acoustic that is sweet, a Yamaha MIDI keyboard that I bought about ten years ago for 40 dollars and a M-Audio Unisport MIDI cable that works like a champ. I run my Epiphone through a Zoom 505II effects box and out in stereo through twin Peavey RAGE 158 amplifiers. I run my computer audio out through a Hitachi 400 watt stereo amplifier and Technics speakers so I can hear it loud enough on my mixdowns. My studio is pretty much bare bones and I like it simple like this.
Anything else...?
I would just like to state that I have no expectations of having any kind of professional music career based on my level of talent or lack thereof. I just love music, it's in me and I have to get it out. I do not like to spend a lot of money for equipment if the most basic will do the job I need done. If you suck, all the expensive equipment in the world will not fix it. I do not like to spend a lot of time fussing over mixes, levels, fx, blah blah blah. I just want to leave something for people to hear when I'm gone. I have CDs yea, but I hope this page will be around for a good long while. Sites like this have opened up a whole new universe of music to me and given me lots of enjoyment. I would say music separates us from the animals but that would not be accurate given the examples of popular music sometimes. Often times cars will roll by with stereos blasting something that just puts me in mind of filthy savages, cannibals and headhunters. Does anyone remember melody, harmony, the basics, do re mi fa so la ti do for Christsake? Every time I hear a stupid "song" about "the club" I think of the image of a caveman dragging his mate by the hair with a big club on his shoulder. There, I said it.
