The sound of the Northwest can not be defined, but it can definatly be heard in the voice, strings and throbbing beat of the Brody Lowe Band. Based on the west coast of Oregon, the Brody Lowe Band is currently ready to mark their exciting future with their first full-length studio album "Everyday Afterwards," in June of 2005. It's a blend of warm and cool with a untouchable approach to music that to this day can not be compared to anything else.
Why this name?
The band chose it after months and months of trying to figure out a clever name that would capture the sound of our music. In the end it just seemed to be the most logical approach rather than picking some cheesy name that could eventually pigeon-hole the band into a direction that never wanted to do.
Do you play live?
Corvallis, Portland, Eugene, McMinnville, etc.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It has give anyone the ability to get their music heard, and in the end only the best musicians are picked to be popular, not but what is paid to be plaid on radio or tv.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I seriously think it's not the best way to go anymore, bands seem to have more longevity in a small record label anyhow.
Band History:
We are now a system of 4. However the whole project started with one man, Brody Lowe. Playing a regular gig at the Bombs Away Cafe every Wednesday, he managed to get a pretty good crowd week. After of year of this, Brody decided to break out of the solo gig and go for a band. After a night of flyer posting, he found bass veteran Matthew Slaughter. Matt and Brody played exclusivly together for roughly 6 months before meeting Steve, who played only a few gigs before leaving for Boise, ID for employment. The heart broken duo did manage to find a new drummer and keyboardist within the month however. The Keyboardist left, the drummer stayed. Mr. Joel Albrecht has become the defining sound the the Brody Lowe Band project. His drumming can be compared to no one, and his attitude can only be compared to your best friend. The trio set out to record their first EP, "In the Meantime" while playing many, many local shows and building up a solid fan base.
Meanwhile, Brody had been working on a record with engineer/producer Don Ross of Eugene. The project was only ment to be a solo project, however with the forming of the band was too good to pass up. Both Joel and Matt were asked to appear as a full band project on the album. The end result is a two year project entitle,"Everyday Afterwards." Their very first full-length album released by their own means, under no label. Finally in the month of April 2005, Mr. Kris Gillmore from upstate NY tried out for BLB. He was happily accepted into the family, BLB is now more than ready to show the world what they've got. The album is set to be released to the public by June 2005, and their story is only just beginning.
