With a hushed voice and a handful
of songs that have been described as
“darkly beautiful,” Barzin has followed
in the footsteps of slow-core writers such as
Smog, Cat Power and The Red House Painters,
taking up the task of exploring the slow
and melancholy side of pop.
The music can best be described as a
soundtrack for a wet, gray day. The down
tempo drumming carries forth the languidly
strummed guitar, while the sparse piano
notes cut through the textural sounds of the
pedal steel and the whispered vocals.
