Erick Richardson
"Making the most out of Life, Love, and Opportunities!"
Why this name?
My dad's last name is Richardson.
Erick - Variant of Eric
Eric - From the Old Norse name Eiríkr, derived from ei "ever" and ríkr "ruler". Danish invaders first brought the name to England. A famous bearer was Eiríkr inn Rauda (Eric the Red in English), a 10th-century navigator and explorer who discovered Greenland. This was also the name of kings of Denmark, Sweden and Norway.
Do you play live?
Yes, the first time I performed was at Blue Whale Cafe at MICDS in 2002. I played "Your Body is a Wonderland." Since then, I have played at events in Rolla, talent shows, Mrs. Jones funeral, poetry sets over Cornelius's house, etc. I love performing and hope to do it more often. I played for Nikki at her birthday barbeque and that was a special moment.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Music needs to be heard. The internet provides an easy way for music to circulate and people all over the world to hear it.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
If it is fair
Band History:
Rich Music
"Changing the world, one note at a time!"

A music lover with an eclectic taste, Erick Richardson is not your typical folk singer/songwriter. Born and raised in St. Louis, MO, his smooth acoustic guitar and soothing vocals will take you to a place he calls “Serenity.” This “Soulful Folk” music uses profound metaphors to describe relatable experiences in his life. Erick often leaves listeners saying, “That makes a lot of sense, and I never thought of it that way!”

His new live album, “eRich Live at Zero Five” is the first CD released by his own record label, Rich Music. This acoustic album is available for purchase via http://www.myspace.com/erickrichardson. In 2006, Erick started Rich Music with the goal of “Changing the world, one note at a time!” As an artist and record label owner, he realizes that while many labels are putting music out to simply sell CDs, he has the responsibility to bring attention to certain subjects that will change the way we live. This “Rich Music” is not only pleasing to the ears, it contains lyrics of substance!

eRich has been singing since he could talk and playing instruments since fifth grade. He started writing his own songs after his voice changed and there was not a bass/baritone part in his church youth choir. Alienated from his peers, he became ashamed of his unique range and didn’t sing in public. Nevertheless, the pure music from his soul couldn’t be held back and with the help of his high school choir director, Eric Anthony, he found confidence and release in singing.

Erick is an electrical engineer by trade, and a musician by heart. He has been featured in many campus events at the University of Missouri – Rolla in addition to playing shows at clubs in St. Louis, Columbia, and Rolla. His love for poetry drives him to turn potentially depressing situations into works of reflection that others can feel. God has given Erick this gift of music that he can not hold back any longer. The world needs to hear Rich Music, and they will – One Note at a Time! For more information on eRich and Rich Music, log on to http://www.eRichMusic.com
