This is Defstarr- I'm from Kansas City and represent the hiphop scene in the metro area. I've started a record company named Razor Tongue Records...I'm in the process of working with several artists, and will be up on regular shows to showcase the talent.
Why this name?
I used to be known as tone def, but changed it because there was a nyc rapper using the same name (just spelled different) and I didn't wanted to be associated with him in anyway. I choose def starr for a combination of hip-hop influences (blackstarr, def jux,...etc.)
Do you play live?
I've done a couple shows now, some open mic stuff and battle contests around the KC and Lawrence, KS areas...and generally at party's I end up freestyling or battling someone as well.Huh.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
What the f*ck is the internet?
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Only Rhymesayers or Definitive Jux...but I'm interested in putting together the next tight label right now.
Favorite spot?
Kansas City, Chicago, Minneapolis...
