In the begenning of the year 1999 a small group of young men from Helsinki were digging bands like James Taylor Quartet and Corduroy. They were also spending time among the 70's cop shows and crime movies. Inspirated by these funky moods it was decided to form an instrumental band. The intention was to play music combining the tradition of London acid jazz and the style of blaxploitation movie soundtracks. After few more guys had joined in, the band was named after a concept from ghetto slang,"HAMBONE" meaning a white man acting a role of black man. Hambone locked itself in a basement in "ghetto" Vallilla and began to in the night life of Helsinki. The trendy party people enjoyed this live groove of Hambone in hip places in Helsinki City.
