We started off jamming and when I started bringing in originals they kept saying to bring in more, the weirder/sicker the better. As I had quite a few, we decided to become a REAL band and started gigging around LA.
Why this name?
Most angry people are hopping mad. We're a little different from that; we're bopping mad.
Do you play live?
We perform a lot in alternative venues. I think a lot appreciate that we sound different.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Well, it provides us with an opportunity to present our stuff to a large group of people that no longer have to pay at the door or watch how much they drink. Plus, the communication is instant should a club owner hear us and decide: 'Cool!'.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
We're willing to sit down a discuss an arrangement beneficial to both parties.
Your influences?
Pat and I go in a lot for Rollins, Coltrane, etc. Everett is completely unique. Jack never talks about that. For composing Zappa, and whatever suitable combination of sounds makes us desire to include them
Favorite spot?
LA - because what with all the different labels and genres we were able to sneak our stuff into a lot of venues that wouldn't have had us if we told them outright what we did.
