The layering of infectious melodies and dynamic guitars over driving rhythms has established Monumental Radio as one of the premier power-pop bands in the Midwest. Playing in St. Louis, Kansas City, Tulsa, Columbia, and Oklahoma City has given this trio many opportunities to hone its skills.
With influences ranging from New Order and The Ocean Blue to Cheap Trick, Monumental Radio always delivers a high-energy, over-the-top show. And Monumental Radio’s live shows are probably the reason the band recently was voted the “Best Band in Springfield” by the readers of 417 Magazine (September 2000).
Having earned critical acclaim from local and regional media, Monumental Radio has nearly completed work on their second full-length album. "Overlimit" is due to hit racks in early 2001.
Why this name?
"Monumental Radio" was a song we wrote about the huge impact the great rock bands of the 60s had on guitar rock/pop. We needed a name and we figured it fit.
Do you play live?
We play all over the Midwest, St. Louis, Columbia, Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Fayetteville, and Kansas City.
We've played with "Deep Blue Something". "Gas Giants", which is made up of Robin Wilson of "Gin Blossoms" and the drummer of Counting Crows.
If you make it big..?
We'll buy tons of guitars, fast cars, and wear only the finest in designer clothing.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It certainly gives the bands a good opportunity to expose the masses to new music. Whether or not it's going to be the revolution everyone says it is...
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
In a heartbeat. Distribution is the key. If we could get great support from an Indie that would be just as good.
