Meet five guys who just happened to wander upon each other less than six months ago, and already have released an EP, and are to release thier first self-produced album in December, or early January. We have a really original sound. Kind of like heavy guitar riff meets funky drums, which slam into a unique, catch lyrics.
Why this name?
The name was originally "Circle of Chaos", but we changed the name to "Turbulanz", because its catchy, also it discribes us as well as our music.
Do you play live?
We do play live, but its usually more of the house party scene. The town we live in is real small. The only bands that play the "bars", not clubs, around here are the cover bands that play, like, Lynard Skinnard, or AC/DC, etc. This is why we are making a move to Springfield, MO, so that we can get our name out. The parties we have played have been, "blowouts", lots of fun!!
If you make it big..?
When we make it big, we plan to stay very busy. Our drummer plans to start a couple of side projects and hopefully start an "indie" label.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
There our so many different ways to get unsigned bands noticed. Ex: Soundclick, Garageband.com, Farmclub, etc. All your have to do is put forth the effort. Nothing comes without some work.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
We as a band want to sign with a label, but we still haven't decided indie, or major. Lately, we favor more toward the "indie", because most major labels have been getting bad "face" in the media lately in thier dealings with big acts.
Band History:
Began playing together in Aug.2000. In Sept.2000, we recorded our first EP. A month later we went back to the studio, redid our first four songs which we had recorded that previous month, plus recorded six more fresh ones. We have played numerous house parties around the area, but because of our precent location it is virtually impossible to get a gig. This, again, is why we are moving to Springfield, MO in Jan./Feb. of 2001.
Your influences?
Are musical infleunces range from the crashing sounds of Soungarden, to the poppy sound of Limp Biscuit. But all of our jamz have that original "Tubulanz" flavor.
Favorite spot?
My favorite is Austin, TX. My home.
Anything else...?
Keep your head up and ur ears open. Maybe we'll see u at one of our shows. Thanxz for stoppin in'
