Canada. A Music Scene waiting to explode. With such a wide diversity of cultures and pop-cultures, it's no surprise that the catchy-trendy music you hear playing at your local mod-clubs, bars, and ipods is the sound of the new Musical Revolution storming from the prairies and mountains of Canada. The world has looked past the Nicklebacks, the Sum 41's, And the Avril Lavignes and is now opening its doors to bands like The Arcade Fire, The Dears, and Metric... With sounds ranging from folk to new-wave, music both mainstream and indie is pouring out of Canada's roots and into the ears and souls of boys and girls.

Enter Waking Matilda.

Waking Matilda started off as a part-time band between two long-time friends since Junior High. In the summer of 2004, Kevin M. and Marvin L. united on the musical front to create melodramatic rock-pop songs as a way to express themselves musically and to pick up chicks. Their challenge was to destroy the idea of mainstream and indie music - rebuild the two as one and see music as it should be seen....as Music. Not a culture, not a phase, not a trend...just pure music.

Kevin, with his past experience on piano, picked up the guitar and began to write tunes with the essence of Oasis and The Cardigans that can be heard through the melodic picking in the songs. With vocals that serenade the mind and soul, Kevin's voice has a tone that will haunt you through the night.

Marvin, the other half of Waking Matilda, brings a strong musical contrast to Kevin's melodic singing style. His hard guitar styling and edgy sound echoes The Clash and The Strokes, and his lyrics are written to the joys and sorrows of life. Marvin's lyrics intertwine with Kevin's vocals to produce songs to laugh, shout, drink, and cry to.

Waking Matilda is here to open the eyes and ears of listeners. For too long, the world has been asleep to Canada's musical talent. Like a shot of vodka, the music will hit you hard, make you smile and keep you up. And when you wake up in the morning, it'll leave you wanting more.
