Formed proper in early 2005, Viral Lode have become increasingly
popular on the underground scene, utilizing distribution and embracing digital music sharing to attract a wider fan base.

The name is derived from a deliberate misspelling of the term Viral Lode- meaning a measure of the severity of a viral infection, which can be
estimated by calculating the amount of virus in an involved body fluid.

Why this name?

A Viral Load is: 'is a measure of the severity of a viral infection, and can be estimated by calculating the amount of virus in an involved body fluid, e.g. given in nucleic acid copies per milliliter of blood. Determination of viral load is part of the therapy monitoring during chronic viral infections and in immunocompromised patients, e.g. after bone marrow or solid organ transplantation. Currently, routine testing is available for HIV-1, cytomegalovirus, hepatitis B virus, and hepatitis C virus.'

And i just changed the Load to a Lode.

And as for why, i just liked the words.

Do you play live?

I havn't as yet but i do plan on doing so eventually either with Viral Lode or with another Pseudo-Industrial project i'm working on involving a vocalist and some instrumentation.

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?

For the better. Underground music, which is basically what i listen to/make/deal with would be damn near unobtainable without the internet as a medium with which to promote it.

Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

Basically Industrial in all its forms,Everything from Throbbing Gristle to VNV Nation.

With Viral Lode i am certainly taking a more agressive, electronic approach. Heavily influenced by alot of the AntZen, Ad Noiseiam & Hands Productions acts such as Antigen Shift, Winterkalte, Converter, Synapscape, PAL, Synth-Etik, Imminent Starvation, Noisex, Detritus, SINA etc etc and also by some of the current crop of Harsh EBM artists like Tacttical Sekt, Suicide Commando, Unter Null and of course Wumpscut.

Oh and Anger. Thats a big influence.

Equipment used:

All software at the moment (but i hope to change that soon) Cubase, FL Studio, various VSTi and VST plugins and a large bank of Noisey Samples to abuse.
