Ignition is a hiphop crew doing amazing things with music in Botswana.
Why this name?
The name Ignition was chosen because we felt our type of music and production was very revolutionary for our country and that time, even now it still is! So we felt we were bringing the heat with our music and thats where the Ignition name came from, we be burning up the airwaves
Do you play live?
We usually perform with a dj, we perform mostly at clubs and festivals
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Well the way I see it, it will mean that record companies will evetually move to selling music online as opposed to selling cd's from the shops.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
If they are offering something worthwhile, yeah
Band History:
Ignition was formed at the end of 1998 after we had a four year stint with another group called Geto Flava. We are based in Botswana, a country in Sub Saharan Africa. Group is composed of two brothers, Tumelo and Tshepo Segopa. We also run a production house called Sinewave productions which does a lot of audio production work in Botswana.
Your influences?
Well here are our influences, Little Brother, Slum Village, Lone Catalyst, Nerd, Immortal Technique, Loop Troop, DJ Spinner, MF Doom, Jay Dee (former Slum Vil member)and a whole host of cats who push that type of music, from that list you can probably see that we driven mostly by beat production.

REASON REASON REASON is god and wavelab, Samplitude, AMD based workstation,Evolution midi controller, Studio projects valve preamp, headphone preamp, Samson CO3 multi patern condensor, Fostex and Senheisser headphones, Samson Servo 260 studio amp and Alessis Monitor One MK2(very nice monitors)
