play lo-fi play hi-fi  Crazy World
Hello. No really, stay... this is the soundclick.com home of Terra Firma, a bunch of noisemakers from the south of England. People have tried and failed to describe our sound, which is not to say we're "out there" - whilst firmly grounded in ROCK, we retain a style all our own... Listen on.
Why this name?
Cos Barney's a stubbon git.
Do you play live?
We will play absolutley anywhere. And have. When it all goes smoothly, i.e amps don't catch fire, drums don't break and people don't steal our keyboards, it's wonderful. Otherwise, we consider it karma.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It has sped up the music industry and associated scene more than any other technological innovation in history, after Edison recorded sound.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Depends. Do they still give bands their own aeroplanes?
Band History:
A stressful mishmash of getting people and kit to various far-flung corners of the country in a pair of Corsas, strained tempers, tea, dark cramped smelly practice rooms and sticking together like an old married couple who keep on doing it cos we always have, and probably always will.
Your influences?
right.. easiest to do the individual members, cos the end product is a combination of the tastes of the entire band pretty much. Morgan(bass) likes his ROCK. Faith No More, lostprophets, with occasional dabblings into King Crimson, Genesis and a healthy interest in leftfield electronica. Owen (guitar) was raised on a diet of Simon & Garfunkel, Beatles and Jean Michelle Jarre. As a result, is responsible for a large amount of the electronica influence into the band. Barney (guitar) is a fan of punk & ska, driving his trusty corsa to the sound of Jimmy Eat World, or Hundred Reasons. Alternativley, he'll listen to drum n bass. Tom (drums) likes metal. The faster and more complicated the better. As a result Terra Firma's rhythm parts tend to have more notes in than the rest of the song put together. Add all these influences to a healthy disregard for rules, and you get.. us.
Favorite spot?
The band could probably only agree on the Reading Festival
Equipment used:
right - Yamaha Stage Custom Deluxe drums, Roland electric kit, Ashdown bass amp, Trace Elliot and Marshall guitar amps, KAM PA system, three basses, four electric guitars, two acoustics, a laptop, two keyboards and more FX pedals than we could mention here. Ironically, most of this stuff doesn't get used much, just looks good.
Anything else...?
The band is fuelled totally by good british tea.
