Why this name?

I wanted a name that represented me. Who I am and what I am. Prolific means creative, and since I was young I always knew creativity was my greatest virtue. The "Deadly Artistic" came from battle rapping. Poetry is what I do. They call me a prolific poet.

Do you play live?

Only a few open mic poetry nights in small spots around Chicago. Sometimes bookstores like Borders.

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?

Its an opportunity for your music to reach billions of listners across the world, and gives an artist the opportunity to be heard by more diverse groups. Unless you have worldwide distribution, it's probably the best thing anyone could've thought of.

Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

I don't know. I'd rather get paid to ghostwrite for somebody who sells out an arena, than headline myself. I love rhyming though, so you never know.

Your influences?

Tupac, B.I.G, Nas, Jay-Z, Eminem, Royce Da 59, DMX, Langston Hughes, Maya Angelou, Shakespeare, Edgar Allen Poe, Mos Def, Gods Forbidden...it's many, not just influences to rhyme but to write period.

Favorite spot?

My birthplace of course...Chicago.
