Tony Rogers is a rapper from a small town in south Louisiana. He was originally half of a rap duo called "UndaEstimated" but due to legal issues, they never released the first album. Tony has since evolved into a solo caliber rapper and now produces most of his own tracks and writes all his own verses, all of which are inspired by his true life experiences.
Why this name?
Most people choose to have a rap name.. which I did originally. I tried TRuth for a while, it just didn't fit.. I also considered Stunseed, which is now goin to be my record label name, but in the end, I decided that I'm not trying to be a rapper, I'm not tryin to be anything but Tony Rogers.
Do you play live?
Nah not really.. not yet.. I'm waiting until after my album drops, or maybe right before, but I've personally never really considered live rap to be very impressive, that's with the exception of Tech Nine from Kansas City, he puts on one helluva show.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think it keeps everybody on their toes and constantly makes artists work harder. Back in the days, if you made it major, you ain't really have no competition like talkin 'bout. But nowadays there's a million and one hungry artists out there with FREE exposure, some of which are really talented... like myself. ha..
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Everybody's gotta price regardless of what they say, but I'd still be hesitant, because from the little experience I've had with industry, it's shady to say the least.
Your influences?
Ashes Aftermath, Ka$$, BDB, Whyte Ice, originally Eminem to be honest, but once I grew a little, Nas, Jay-z, Common, Kanye West, damn I guess just rap in general, I could go on all day.
Favorite spot?
There's a lot of great places in the world but still Gonzales, LA is best. Ain't no place like home.
