Band History:
A native New Englander, Melissa first immersed herself in the Nashville music scene in 1996 after obtaining her degree from St. Lawrence University. Since then, she has been writing and performing in various local clubs around the country.
Your influences?
My biggest musical influences are Mary Chapin Carpenter, Marc Cohn, John Denver and Joni Mitchell. My music falls somewhere in the vicinity of new country mixed with a twist of folk. Others that have influenced me have been James Taylor, The Indigo Girls, Tracy Chapman, Kim Richey, Cheryl Wheeler, Kathy Mattea, John Gorka, Rita Coolidge, Carly Simon and Carole King.
Favorite spot?
In my backyard, in the grass, with my two dogs.
