Gambler's Choice

Currently using the name of my fledgling recording studio as a band name. My intention is to find a forum to audition the songs I have recorded myself. I do the guitar, bass, keyboards and drums in studio, and also try to put together acceptable vocals to use as demo material of what the studio can produce.
Why this name?
The name "Gambler's Choice" was "appropriated" from a horse racing term I became aware of while involved with training horses to pull carriage. It is an arrangement used to break tie scores on the competion field.
Do you play live?
Have not had the opportunity to play live for a few years, but I did work with several bands over the years and enjoyed it. There is nothing like the rush of looking out over the bar room of people, all stopping their conversations or pausing in a game or while walking across the floor, just to watch what you are doing. Unfortunately, I enjoyed it a little too much, and got several DUI's in the process. No one to blame but myself, and now I am drink free for two years (thanx Mary), and re-inventing myself as a recording engineer.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Not sure how to answer this, except that there are a lot of non musicians in the music business these days. I suppose it is all for the best, but I do miss the "good olde days". I am old enough to have been there, and young enough to remember them.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I'd rather be the major label signing contracts.
Band History:
Have had the pleasure of playing in several bands, starting in high school, everything from folk, rock, country, blues, did some fifties rock and roll (four part harmony and sax player included), alternative type rock originals, anything I could get into. Band names included "Chook", "Knightmare", "Backflash", "Digital Breakfast", and now "Gambler's Choice".
Your influences?
Mostly country, but every kind of rock and blues and some jazz. Can't figure hip hop or techno or beats out yet, but I'll record anything you can play/produce.
Favorite spot?
Where ever I hang my hat, as long as Mary hangs her coat on the same rack.
Anything else...?
A few covers to start, originals in the near future. Please help with feedback, mostly on mixing and recording quality. I know the vocals suck, but all of these are done by myself, and I really can't sing very well.
