I started making music while writing a horror novel. At the time I didn't have much of the kind of music I like to listen to while writing and I thought the only way I would ever get exactly what I wanted was to make it myself. Since then however I've found hundreds of other musicians out there who make music similar to my own. My sound is sometimes dark ambient, sometimes mysterious, sometimes uplifting, and always different. Please check it out.

Why this name?
Definition of Orphic:
"mysterious: having an import not apparent to the senses nor obvious to the intelligence; beyond ordinary understanding"

Definition of Endeavor:
"A conscientious or concerted effort toward an end; an earnest attempt"

So the name means "Mysterious Attempts" actually... At the time I thought that was kind of cool.
Do you play live?
No, I do not play live. I construct music from recorded bits and pieces of everyday life and use synths and basically anything I can find that makes noise around the house. It would be extremely difficult to play live.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet has changed everything, not just the music industry. I can not only publish my music in a world forum, I can also publish my fiction, comics, movies and other projects. And people from all over the world have access to it all. Amazing...
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
That would depend on lots of different factors....
Band History:
Began in 2000 by Bonnie Gardiner as an experiment in sound, Orphic Endeavors' ethereal atmospheric music has been used in the short film "Waiting for Something" directed by John Clifton Gardiner and the documentary "America's Most Haunted Inns: Bucks County PA" directed by Robert Child as well as several other video and film projects. If you like movie soundtracks, ambient soundscapes or even some Myst-like or Schizm-like video game music you will enjoy Orphic Endeavors.

Your influences?
The primary influence are the soundtracks of the classic PC games Myst and Riven by Robyn Miller, but I am also influenced by Depeche Mode instrumentals, and artists like Delerium, Engima, Amethystium and others.
Favorite spot?
Fancy Gap, VA. The Blue Ridge mountains... Wish I was there right now.
Anything else...?
Thanks for listening!
-Bonnie Gardiner
