the idle hours: rock out somehow inspired by the less than energetic waste of modern adult life.
Why this name?
theidlehours: I think it came up when thinking about those quiet times, like in the middle of the night, when the world kind of appears to be frozen and you can walk through it as though you're the only one alive.
Do you play live?
Playing live is awesome, totally different from the recording experience. Playing live is getting out all your energy and frustration in a half hour frenzy of sweat and craziness.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
the internet definately makes music more accessible, which is great for aspiring artists but sucks for money fiends. Sites like soundclick create an artistic community that otherwise might not exist.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Still? what are you talking about?
YES. We would do anything to be professional artists for the rest of our lives.

Band History:
We: Started out in the fall of 2002 as Justin; Mark; and Dan: all from the southside of Chicago. After a couple changes of personnel, winter of 2003/4 has us as Dan -drums; Manuel -guitar; Mark -guitar keyboards, drum machine, vocals; Mike -bass. I think robots are very important for inspiration, and I like to sit around and think about frozen things.
Your influences?
ingredients: feedback, melody, effects, loud, smashy, strobe lights, smoke, TV.
Anything else...?
Check out this site often as songs change frequently as I record them.
