Why this name?
We work with a wide variety of artists. When was the last time you saw a stand-up bass, sax, keys, percussion, etc. backing up Hip Hop vocalists? We FUSE sounds together, that is where the name came from...
Do you play live?
CLUBS: New York: Siberia, Triad Club, Bowery Poetry Club / Asbury Park: Harry's Road House / Philadelphia: Eight Floor, African Pearl / New Brunswick: The Harvest Moon, Court Tavern, The Helmet, ArtHouse / Woodbridge, NJ: 88 Keys / Newark: African Globe Theater / East Orange: Rouzeau's Manor / Hoboken: Rodeo Ristra
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Rough for the artists but we have been getting the shaft for a long time now. Time to get creative and promote, produce, and build from within.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
yes
Band History:
Since 2001, FUSE has rocked both urban and suburban audiences with its one-of-a-kind blend of hard-driving funk and original street rhymes. Featuring charismatic MC Jalil from Newark and a tight five-piece rock band from New Brunswick, FUSE delivers explosive live jams all over the Tri-State area from Harry’s Road House (Asbury Park) to the Siberia bar (New York) and from the Court Tavern (New Brunswick) to the Eighth Floor (Philadelphia). With guitar, bass, keys, sax, drums, and percussion, the experienced musicians of FUSE seamlessly weave musical styles topped by the bold rhythmic lyrics of genuine hip hop. Unlike any other, FUSE has created a brand new sound and live experience that won the band a devoted urban and suburban fan base. FUSE recently opened for signed artists New Blood Revival (Atlantic Records) and Quantisha. FUSE headlined the Rutgers University “Tent State” Festival in 2003 and 2004 and was selected by legendary Beat promoter Bob Holman as the house band for the Black Beats Festival in Manhattan (featured in the Village Voice). FUSE also performed as the house band for underground promoter Black 45’s “Thugs Unplugged” show in Newark.
