Remannts and Strangers is the name of a project that I have been envisioning for some time to write and record Messianic Jewish music that explores the roles of both Jews and Gentiles in the service of the G-d of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
Why this name?
I am a "Stranger in the Camp" and I play with several people who are "Remnants of Israel"
Do you play live?
I love playing live, although most of the time my Messianic material is reserves for Temple and outreach venues. I play secular tunes, both original and covers in coffeeshop venues around North Orange County whenever I can.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think that it has made an individual's music more accessible by the general population, and has allowed people to reach a far greater audience without distribution assistance than ever before, but this has also made an individual voice a lot harder to pick out from the ever-increasing din of performers.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Has anyone ever said "no" to this question?
Band History:
The band, as an entity, doesn't really exist. I play with some people in some places and others in others, but I have yet to find a permanent lineup that shares my vision for this project.
Your influences?
I've always been a big fan of the blues and country genres, and I think that comes across in a lot of my writing, but my tastes are so diverse that it's hard to pin down. Specifically in Messianic music, I love Joel Chernoff and Ted Pearce, and try to blend traditional Jewish themes and sounds with my more contemporary influences.
Favorite spot?
With my family, and anyplace that I can worship G-d.
Anything else...?
Although this page is specifically for my Messianic writing projects, I will be including some secular tunes as well, since, let's be honest, I'd love to sell one eventually.
