Where you think there is no music, music is in its prime. Alternative, popular, grimey, hardcore, whatever is in the moment. DJ Alter Ego, 401 mixtape master.
Why this name?
DJ Alter Ego means the other side of my personality.
Do you play live?
Im more of a studio kinda cat.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet makes people, like me, simply looking to spread music and not have money as their #1 goal, reach more people.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes
Band History:
I started out rapping/writing when i was about 11, just joking around and shit. As i got older, i started meeting other MC's, experimenting with mixing music and shit, and recording actual songs. Thats how my project, "Rockhard Mixtape Series" got started, it all came out of these experiences.
Your influences?
2pac, Luniz, Marvin Gaye, Outlawz, George Clinton, Mobb Deep, Nas, Eminem, Run DMC, Big Syke, THUG LIFE, N.W.A.
Favorite spot?
Newport, RI. Theres no other city with the personality, and as unique as the NPT. The only place where, in a 10 minute walk, you can see rich old people, crack heads, drug dealers, and tour guides at the same time.
Equipment used:
Alesis SR-16 Drum Machine, M-Audio Mobile-Pre audio interface, Toshiba Laptop Computer, Behringer B-1 mic, Magix Music Maker 2005, Cakewalk Kinetics.
Anything else...?
Hip-Hop is all about expressing ones ideas in the form of poetry put to music. Black/white, rich/poor, hip hop can apply to anyone. Hip hop is fun music, as well as social criticism. Keep hip hop as an art form, dont let it become such a business.
