We are the Comer Family from southern York county Pa. and northern Md. We write all our own songs. We sing in various Chuches and different events locally.
We love to sing about our blessed Saviour. He is worthy of all honor, praise and glory.
Why this name?
We are known as the Comer Family but let me say that without those that have married into, and become part of the Comer family, we would not have the the wonderful singing harmony that we have. I'm speaking of our brother in law Jim Sturgis, married to our sister Pearl L. Sturgis. Jim Sturgis is responsible for the fine banjo playing and not only superb lead singing, but the finest high alto singing around.
Jim Sturgis has a sister in the Comer family also, Martha Comer, married to our brother James E. Comer. Martys singing talents are uncomparable, able to do any harmony and her lead singing is clear and distinct and a pleasure to listen to.
The Comer Family music would not be what it is without the Sturgis family. We love them dearly and they have some very talented children also.
Do you play live?
We play twice monthly on Sat nights (1st & 3rd) at "THE YOU TELL TWO COFFEE HOUSE" at the Nazarene Church on Rt 74 at Delta, Pa. (1 mi. N. of Md line)
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet offers an opportunity for independent artists and writers to display their talents. We are thankful for Soundclick for providing this opportunity.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
We would sign as Family band, artists or songwriter.
Band History:
Our history is mostly singing, playing a lot of bluegrass and country gospel over the years and meeting a lot of other very talented singers that love to sing and praise the Lord.
Your influences?
Our major influence is the wonderful salvation that Jesus provided on that old rugged cross.
I would say we are probably somewhat like the Lewis Family. Not particularly for style but various members can be the lead singer depending on the song. We all love a great harmony song.
Favorite spot?
Church on Sunday morning and praising the Lord with family and friends.
Equipment used:
We are acoustic, guitar, banjo, mandolin, and electric bass.
Anything else...?
Our mission statement is this - Jesus died for our sins, even while we were yet sinners. No one ever had a love so great that He, being innocent would lay down his life for his friends. It is our hope that through our gospel music, someone may come to a full assurance of salvation
