Well, This is me. Jay Monty. I am a songwriter that is looking to start a full band. At the moment it is just me, playing guitar, drums, and occasionally vocals. I multi track. That's right, I paly all the instruments. It is easy this way because I never have to rely on some one else.
Why this name?
Well, this is my name.
Do you play live?
No, I do not play live. I would if I had an entire band. It is kind of difficult seeing as I play all the instruments.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think it changes it in a good way. I am all for the free download of music to an extent. A lot of friends I have will download one album from a particular band, and if they like it, then they go and buy more albums. I do not support Napster in any way, shape, or form. If you are going to download music find a better, and cheaper way.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Definately.
Your influences?
My musical influences are Arjen Lucassen, Dream Theater, Yes, Rush, The B-52's, The Presidents of the United States, Genesis, Iced Earth, Blind Guardian, but most of all, the people that I live around and see everyday.
Favorite spot?
My favorite spot is in my basement on my bed, playing the music I love.
Equipment used:
I use whatever I happen to have at the moment. Right now I have a Tama Rockstar set with Zildjian Cymbals and Pearl PowerShifter Eliminator Double Pedal, Westone electric guitar, Washburn accoustic/electic guitar, a home made bass guitar, Kawai digital piano, Concertmate electric keyboard, Audacity Recording Software.
