NEWS
Ayan and Sowmya our frontmen (and women) left College Park to pursue careers in Arizona and Georgia respectively. We miss them.
Rajat Ahuja and Mathangi Srinivasan have ably taken their place on the vocals, and we have been having a lot of fun. Amrit bought "bloody mary"-- a beautiful Gibson Les Paul. Watch us perform on the 1st of November at the Nyumburu Cultural Center.
For the show, Bhismadev Chakraborty a visiting scholar from Cambridge UK will be accompanying us on the Tabla, while Birender Singh livens things up with his drums. See you all there.

We are a group of Indian Graduate Students at the University of Maryland, College Park, who crave a creative musical outlet. We do mostly Light Indian Music covers in Hindi, with an emphasis on easy-listening melody.
Our music may not be suitable for dance parties. . . but we do hope it will get people to tap their feet. Especially those, who may feel a wave of nostalgia when they remember many of the songs that are so much a part of Indian popular culture.
Living in America, this is our fledgling attempt at keeping a part of our culture alive, while we embrace and learn from life here. We also occassionally sing in English, Tamil, Punjabi. . .and are looking to extend our pan-Indian identity by learning some other regional songs to suite the specific occassion. However, 95% of our focus is in doing Hindi music.
Listen to our music here.
Why this name?
Antardhwani means The Sound Within. We arrived at this name to reflect the kind of music we do. . . through an excruciatingly democratic process.
Do you play live?
So far, we have performed at a number of private gatherings (Birthday parties, Dinner celebrations), Alumni events (Calcutta University, Delhi University School of Economics), Sparsh 2005 , and other cultural gatherings. Please contact us if you have an event where our music would be suitable.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It gives amateur groups like us a voice and web presence. It also makes the world flat, eliminating the need for middlemen between the artist and the music. We deeply appreciate this.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
We do not aim at doing music professionally. Our vision is to gain recognition in the MD-DC-VA area and to do more public performances. While signing up with labels is not one of our goals, we do not rule anything out.
Band History:
The band started coalescing together towards the end of 2004. Perhaps the best way of narrating our bands history is to get our members to speak about it themselves. Here are links to Supratik's, Amrit's, Subhamoy's, and Alap's webpage. . . where they write about their experiences.
Your influences?
Melodious Bollywood numbers, Rock Groups such as Euphoria, Junoon, R.D. Burman, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, A.R. Rahman.
Favorite spot?
