play lo-fi play hi-fi  Milliseconds with you
Self taught musician, entangled between two worlds of passion & prize, with influences dating as far back as King David. Living, breathing, & nurturing the thought, sound, & existence of every form of music created and in process of creation. I am not just a musician but the actual music, Ms. Music!
Why this name?
Everything about me is music...
Do you play live?
I play live with tracks or with a band....my sets are based on what I am contracted for. Included originals and covers of any genre.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet is a wondering resource for indie artist. It give us a chance to network and build relationship within a world of it's own.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
No sure...to distribute, Yes. I need the right offer that would still allow me to be an "artist".
Band History:
When the forces of rhythm and melody embarked upon each other they knew that a 21st century musician would be the product of their collision. In the southern cozy comforts of North Carolina, E. Katrina Lewis developed as a self taught musician. From the time that Katrina could crawl, she inched her way to the household furnishings which became “dums” better known as drums. After acquiring more height, Katrina began sitting at an auction bought antique piano and playing the melody to any and every piece of music she heard. It was obvious that this little girl had a natural talent for music. As Katrina got older her music became her passion and her soul. Out of every strike of the piano or any instrument Katrina played, she became the physical execution of each note played. You could look upon her face as she played and feel the warmth and serenity that surrounded her.

Katrina received her first opportunity to play in public at the age of 12. It was evident to the crowd that music was much more than a second hand hobby to this young lady. As Katrina bopped her head back and forth, she played with an assurance and boldness that most people never knew existed in such a quiet and calm natured person. From that day on, Katrina has “bopped” her head on the stage of the Clark Theater at the Lincoln Ctr., the NC Wesleyan Dunn Center, The World Famous Apollo, the New York City Song Network’s Star Stage, The Raleigh, North Carolina Civic Center and many other notable stages across the United States. Katrina’s “bop” also awarded her the 2003 American Gospel Music Awards Finalist in Gospel Jazz, NC Wesleyan College Student Music Award, 1999 UJAM Keyboardist of the Year Award and the 1996 Marines Semper Fidelis Award for Musical Excellence, as well honorable mention for Disc Makers’ Independent Talent Search.

The fate of Katrina’s first performance evoked her early start as a composer and songwriter. The challenge of focusing in high school and college was not because of peer pressure or lack of time management but simply the very notion and existence of music. Katrina would carry around a tape recorder to capture ideas and melodies at any given time….even during test taking time! Katrina knew no boundaries in music; she would listen to all styles as well as composed in all genres. Out of the authenticity of her feelings, Katrina would compose music that others young and older could identify with. She used her music as a therapeutic liberator from daily stress. She also established her own music company, Beware of Music at the age of 15. The company’s main focus is to propel those already a household name to greater heights and assist those yet unheard of to find they way to the charts. The start of this music entity allowed Katrina to learn the legal and business aspects of music which would drive her right into the success of production.

Endeavoring to make music her life, Katrina moved two years after graduating from college with a degree in political science and English to New York City (a week before the World Trade Crisis). Torn between her passion and the reality of New York’s economic and employment condition, Katrina chose to stay in New York because she knew without doubt she would make it as a freelance musician. She began hanging around music stores, rehearsal studios, churches, and any other place of networking potential to meet people. Whenever she would be given the opportunity to grace listeners with her music, they would be automatically drawn to her energy and connect with her for another musical opportunity.

While Katrina is performing it is impossible to know where the instrument and the maestro separate. They truly become an extension of the other. There is nothing more comfortable to this young lady than the touch of an instrument and the notes that eludes the instrument. Katrina has allowed her experiences in music and life to continue to take her to the masses (a place she will always strive towards and set as a standard of excellence). Not only are others blessed by her ability, but Katrina herself is the first to experience the appreciation of such a gift. Yes, when the forces of rhythm and melody embarked upon each other and gave birth to a 21st century musician, E. Katrina Lewis, they knew exactly what the outcome of their collision would be. Katrina is not just the musician; she’s the music….Ms. Music.
