play lo-fi play hi-fi  Why They Have To Be
My name's Jake Allen Cheek. I grew up in Northeast Georgia about an hour north of Athens in a little sleepy town called Toccoa. My dad worked hard for everything we ever had, but I always had everything I ever wanted. I guess I'm just like any other good ole Georgia Boy. I love to fish and hunt. But I love to write and sing a country song more than anything. I have a lot of good memories stashed in the sounds of a steel guitar and a fiddle.
Why this name?
Its just my name. Jake Allen Cheek.
Do you play live?
I play live anywhere - any time, and there's nothing else I'd rather do. Everytime I get to perform my music in front of folks it is special to me. I have played alot of places up in Nashville like the Bluebird Cafe, Nashville Crossroads, World Famous Tootsies Orchid Lounge, and many more. I recently put on a performance for the Lander University Baseball team over in Greenwood South Carolina with no sound equipment just me and my old guitar. I'm scheduled to perform at a Graduation party following Georgia Southern University's graduation in May. I will have my own sound equipment by then.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It is revolutionary. Now you can get your music to ears all over the world with the click of a mouse.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes I would. That is my ultimate goal. I would like to sign with Arista Records or Capitol Records Nashville.
Band History:
I started playing guitar when I was in college, and just fell in love with it. I found out I had a good voice by singing Karaoke one night. I put 2 and 2 together and began playing guitar and singing cover songs. I eventually began writing songs, and now I have written about 20 or so songs and spent some time in Nashville playing writers rounds and stuff. It is what I love to do, and I'll always do it no matter what.
Your influences?
George Strait, Alan Jackson, The outlaws, Hank, Dave Matthews, and Dierks Bently have all influenced my music. I am a huge fan of traditional sounding country music.
Favorite spot?
Nashville, TN
Equipment used:
I play an Alvarez AD60CK Koa wood acousic electric guitar with D'Adario medium strings.
