About the song
Max became a movie star for a while when he was chosen to play the part of Gitone in Federico Fellini's film 'Fellini - Satyricon' that came out in 1969. We lived near each other in London for a few years and spent a fair amount of time together hanging out and jamming. Holland Park was one of our favourite haunts. Max wrote a number of classic songs around that time including this one - a favourite of mine. Max was indeed very beautiful in his film role. This recording was made in my Shepherd's Bush flat one stoned night in 1973. Max, our mutual friend Mark, and myself all play guitar. Max sings the lead vocal and I'm on the harmonica. The picture shows Max as Gitone. Max now lives in Mallorca and is still writing excellent songs.
Lyrics
Why am I so beautiful?
Can it be these lovely legs of mine?
Why am I so beautiful?
Why am I so divine?
Why am I so beautiful?
Can it be the way that I shine?
Oh I'm so beautiful
I send shivers up and down my spine!

(repeat as often as necessary :)
