I live in a cardboard box.
Currently, I am singing back up for a local hip hop group called The Ramsey Bros. aka The Ramsey Family featuring Doc Jack, Stylus and Ms. Su'ad. The beats are sick - courtesy of Stylus. Doc Jack brings the hyped energy, Stylus brings the beats and something sexy on the mic with his voice (I think it's sexy. I've told him that. I'm not sure he agrees). Ms. Su'ad, if you ain't heard, is one of the freshest female mc's out in the Northwest. We perform regularly in the local area and are interested in venturing out North, East and South. Keep a look out!
Also, I am the Karaoke DJ at Legin Restaurant. You can catch me Thursdays and Fridays spinning hip hop and singing old sad love songs starting at 9 pm. Come check me out!

Do you play live?
I play locally in most of the clubs that allow live music in Portland. Seeking to venture out of town.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think site like this are a great opportunity to network among other musicians locally, nationally and internationally.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Depends on the contract!
Band History:
In the past, I was a singer in a 16 piece Portland funk band called Fatman fronted by J.R. Pella for most of the playing time. We regulated the Portland music scene for a couple years with guest appearances by various Portland artist like Tahoe Jackson and MyG. In '99, the group went their seperate ways. Some of the ex Fatman members formed a group called Headscope that played the Portland scene for a couple years after. Headscope's style was like a mix of trip hop with synth. I was diggin it. I also have had solo performances in the Northwest area including singing as the mc for drum & bass DJ'S as well as studio work for local hip hop and techno composers.
All in all... I've been singing for 20 years. For many years, I thought I would be an opera singer and had hopes of attending Julliard to study. Plans changed when I found myself in a funk band and loving it. Since then, I've tried to stay in the area of hip hop/r&b/funk/soul. I'm capable of doing any and all styles of music. I can say that something special tingles inside when I sing classical music. haha! However, when singing soul.. something else tingles, too!
Your influences?
I sound like a mix of Mary J. Blige, Jill Scott, Amel Larrieux, Etta James and Erykah Badu (on a good day)
Anything else...?
If you need back up vocals or someone to drop the hook, I am available for a small fee and sometimes for free if the music is good. My goal is to continue singing locally and establish a solid band to make music, play and sell the shit! Can You Dig?
