Originally from Concord, New Hampshire, André Martinez now hails from the Los Angeles area. As a child, his early contact with music was highlighted by a wide range of artists from Bob Dylan and John Denver to Led Zepplin and AC/DC. His musical journey started in high school, playing the bass guitar. He played for a number of different bands spanning many genres all the way through college. One day he picked up his deceased father’s old acoustic guitar and began writing songs. As a songwriter, the tales he tells are usually introspective often a little somber but always laced with prevailing hope. Though his songs easily lend themselves to being played by a full rock band, they all tend to originate from the root of good, strong songwriting and can stand alone when stripped down to simple acoustic arrangements. Stylistically the range of songs is quite broad; from soaring U2-like melodies to Tom Petty-esque jangle and folky acoustic ballads.
