Out of Element is a politicaly motivated band, driven by ideals and thoughts created by simple logical thinking and affected by the environment that surrounds.
Why this name?
Watching the movie "The Big Lebowski", one of the the characters said "Shut the f--- up Donny, you're out of your element"
Do you play live?
We play live as much as possible wherever possible. We absolutly love to do it. Any special moment is, during a set, we all change something about a song, all together, at the same time, without prior discussion.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
We, as a band, feel it makes it better, and more of an open art form...rather than simply an industry for the rich. We, for the most part refuse to be sponsored in any way...even by being signed by a label...and mp3s open up a whole new door for people to hear our work without having to waste their money on it. We look at it as, you are doing us a favor by listening to our thoughts...and if anything, we should pay you for it.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Never
Band History:
The bassist, Joe, and the singer/guitarist Brian(me), have known each other far too long...perhaps 10 years...Joe has always drummed, and ever since Brian picked up the guitar, they've been playing together. They decided to make a band out of it sometime aroun 98 or something, playing crappy songs under the moniker "Craptacular"...then after trying out a million different bassists, and as many different band names...and a constant change from the third to the first person view... Joe decided to take over bass guitar duties, since we knew a guy who played the drums...Dan. The line up has been Dan on drums, Joe on Bass, and me on guitar/singing ever since (that was about a year ago). We recorded some songs, which dont sound as good as we want them to...and we dont play enough shows, but hey...who's perfect?
