Dana has been a Staff Writer/Producer for some of the worlds largest publishing companies for over 20 years... (Acuff-Rose / BMG etc.) His songs have been recorded by Lorrie Morgan, Aaron Tippen, The Oak Ridge Boys, Jeff Foxworthy yeah, the "you might be a redneck if" guy... and many others. The Christian Rock Band, "PETRA" and "Hosanna Integrity!" recorded "No Weapon Formed Against Us", which became an Internationally known Praise and Worship Chorus and is still being used in Church Services around the world.
He has recorded 7 CD's on his own and with his band; "The Songwriters". Now Dana tours Internationally, doing Concerts and Speaking Engagements... "winning the lost and blessing the found"... over 65,000 have given their hearts to Jesus so far!

Why this name?
The original band: Dana, Glenn and Jacky Watts were signed as a "songwriting team" with Acuff-Rose Music in Nashville in the late '70's. They sang their own Demos and as the songs got "pitched" to Record Producers, they would say: "hey, I like the song, but tell me, who are those guys singing it? The song plugger would respond: "it's the song writers"... meaning the guys who wrote the songs were singing them and doing the harmonies. Well, this happened so often, that folks began referring to us as "The Songwriters"... and it stuck. ;--)
Do you play live?
Oh YES!! Dana does Concerts, Speaking Engagements, Soul-Winning Seminars and Songwriting Seminars at Churches, Schools, Conventions, Prisons, you name it. He brings practical teaching on "How to Live the "Word" in Today's World "... combines it with MUSIC, HUMOR, (..."laughter doeth good like a medicine") ...and most of all "THE ANOINTING" of the Lord through the WORD of GOD! It is absolutely amazing to watch lives being changed forever! Over 65,000 have received Jesus as their Savior and Lord so far and untold numbers have and still are experiencing miracles like you wouldn't believe! The Ministry is almost constantly being contacted via email, snail mail, etc. with wonderful accounts of how God is touching lives with this (HIS) music, full of HIS WORD.
Band History:
Songwriters Ministry began in August of 1980 when Ministering at Lakewood Church in Houston, TX. After a 40 minute presentation of God's Word in Music, Pastor John Osteen called Dana back up to the stage and asked his congregation to: "stretch your hands out toward Dana" he continued, "let's send Dana and the Songwriters out from Lakewood Church by the Holy Spirit to Win Souls to Jesus".
From that day on, everywhere they went, instead of a few people getting saved... there were dozens, scores and sometimes even hundreds coming forward to receive Jesus as Savior and Lord! I believe that was the moment that the Lord "Imparted the Gift of Evangelism" to Dana.
Now Dana is honored to pray for others to receive their Ministry Gift(s). It's amazing to see the results when; hungry Christians receive the Evangelistic Gift... and their Churches suddenly GROW to overflowing with new Believers!

Your influences?
Dana began playing Drums professionally at age 13 playing everything from "MoTown" to "The British Invasion" doing Night Clubs, Frat Parties, etc. In his college years Dana got into Hard Rock... Led Zeppelin, etc. He later moved to Miami Beach and put together a new band. While there, he became friends with Mike Panera of Iron Butterfly, Blues Image and Cactus. It was a wild lifestyle.
In late 1976 he bought a guitar, moved to Nashville, "desiring real change." It wasn't long before a record producer friend, re-introduced him to Jesus Christ. Soon, Dana's life and music began to change as the WORD of GOD transformed his heart.
