Notes From The Road

Unlike their equally successful counterparts Coldplay, Motley Crew, and the Beatles, Notes from the Road chooses to maintain its smaller more intimate fan-base. Often asked to play stadiums such as Madison Square Garden and Giants Stadium, the band refuses.
“Our dulcet tones are best heard in smaller more personal venues,” says guitarist Dave Farber (AKA “Hot Lanta”). “We remain a popular band because of our unpopular attitude: Stay true to the fans.”
Forever focused on perfecting its skill, the band recognized its need to take a break in the late 1950s. Drummer Brian Gerard (AKA “tripod”) reflects on the decision.
“Going on hiatus throughout the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s was tough. I won’t lie. Notes needed the time off as much as the time off needed Notes.”
And then, like a thunderbolt in a clear blue sky, the band announced its return in January of 2005. Said simplest, the music and their fans needed them. For Notes, the feeling was mutual.
“It was only a matter of time before we returned,” says singer Dustin Monahan (AKA “face”). “And that time is now. We’re better now than we’ve ever been. We really missed the admiration…. Especially from the ladies.”
What remains most interesting about Notes’ reunion tour is that not a single fan, nor critic, doubts the raw muscle behind the band’s comeback. Music critic Sway from MTV speaks of the band’s potential success.
“What others realize is that this band has sold out places like The Funhouse and Casa Mia’s. They have proven themselves time and time and again as amazingly artistic, invigoratingly intellectual, and fun. Notes from the Road remains a reflection of the times that surround them as well as the times to follow them.”
Since their last performance in 59', Notes has grown. Newcomer Phil Miller (AKA “sexpert”) gives the band matrices of dimensions Einstein never fathomed – most notably a bass guitar and a keyboard.
Phil, infamous for his loquacious behavior, speaks of his time with Notes.
“It’s great to be a part of something greater than myself. And that something is Notes from the Road.”
